Alberta Fall 2025 Rocket League Provincial Qualifiers
On November 29th, 2026, the Alberta Scholastic Esports League (ASEL) hosted a provincial Rocket League qualifier. As a result, eight teams (two U15 and six U18) earned the right to represent Alberta at the Esport Canada Scholastic Invitational event.
The qualified teams are as follows:
U15 Division
Vimy Ridge Academy Valkyries (Edmonton, Alberta)
St. Patrick Community School Celtics (Red Deer, AB)
U18 Division
Lethbridge Collegiate Institute Samurai Gold (Lethbridge, AB)
Ecole McTavish Marauders (Fort McMurray, AB)
M.E. LaZerte Voyagers I (Edmonton, AB)
Fort McMurray Composite High School Miners (Fort McMurray, AB)
Bev Facey Community High Falcon Gold (Sherwood Park, AB)
Lethbridge Collegiate Institute Samurai Green (Lethbridge, AB)

Esport Canada Scholastic Invitational 2025 - Alberta’s National Impact
December 6th, 2025, marked Alberta's strong presence on the national stage. Of the eight qualified teams, both U15 teams and five out of the six U18 teams advanced to the championship play-offs stage.
U15 Division: This division featured a total of 25 school teams from five provinces: Manitoba, New Brunswick, Ontario, Saskatchewan & Alberta.
U18 Division: This division featured a total of 21 school teams representing Manitoba, New Brunswick, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta & Quebec.
Group Stage Performance Highlights:
U15 Division: Vimy Valkyries delivered a flawless performance, exiting their group undefeated. STP Celtics also performed admirably, dropping only a single game in their group stage run.
U18 Division: A dominant showing saw LCI Samurai Gold, FMCHS Miners, and EMT Marauders all advance from their groups without a single loss. MELZ Voyagers I and BFCHS Falcons Gold also secured their spots in the play-offs, losing only one game each. LCI Samurai Green came close to advancing, being just one match win shy of qualification.
Championship Play-offs Performance Highlights:
STP Celtics:
The STP Celtics started their championship run strong with a 3-1 victory over the Marion School Mustangs from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Their journey ended in the next round, however, when they were defeated 3-0 by the Manitoba provincial champions, the Chief Peguis Middle School Red Wolves from Winnipeg. This performance secured them a top 8 finish at nationals.
Vimy Valkyries:
As Alberta’s U15 provincial champions, they started their championship run strong with a dominating 3-0 victory over École Dugald School Black Dragons from Dugald, Manitoba. They followed this up with a close 3-2 victory against Stonybrook Middle School Knights from Steinback, Manitoba. The Semi-Final match showcased a provincial champions clash, pitting the Manitoba champions, the CP Red Wolves, against our very own Vimy Valkyries. They fought hard but were ultimately unable to avenge the STP Celtics, falling short with a 3-0 loss. This strong performance secured them a top 4 finish at nationals
BFCHS Falcons Gold, FMCHS Miners, and MELZ Voyagers I:
The championship playoffs saw a very commendable showing from these three schools. MELZ Voyagers I took a 3-1 loss against Kildonan-East Collegiate Maroon from Winnipeg, Manitoba. FMCHS Miners also faced tough challenges: they suffered a 3-1 loss against Collège Béliveau Cudas from Winnipeg, Manitoba and, in a dramatic five-game series, BFCHS Falcons Gold took a commanding 2-0 lead against École Secondaire Louis-Jacques-Casault Grizzlys from Montgamy, Quebec, only to eventually fall short with a 2-3 defeat. Overall, these performances placed all three teams within the top 12 at nationals.
EMT Marauders:
EMT Marauders, entering the tournament as the 2024 U18 National Champions, began their championship playoffs run in the quarter-finals against Kildonan-East Collegiate Maroon. They secured a dominant 3-0 victory, advancing to the semi-finals and, in the process, avenging their fellow Alberta team, MELZ Voyagers I. They continued their strong performance by taking out Esterhazy High School Sr Warriors from Esterhazy, Saskatchewan, with another 3-0 win, cementing their spot in the Grand Final where they will face the Alberta provincial champions, LCI Samurai Gold.
LCI Samurai Gold:
LCI Samurai Gold entered the tournament swinging as Alberta’s U18 provincial champions. Like EMT Marauders, they began their championship playoffs run in the quarter-finals. They took their first match 3-1 against Our Lady of the Bay Catholic High School Nitro Fuel from Collingwood, Ontario. In the semi-finals, they took out LJC Grizzlys 3-0 in a dominating fashion, also avenging a fellow Alberta team, the BFCHS Falcons Gold. With those dominating wins, awaiting them in the Grand Final is fellow Alberta team, EMT Marauders.
All Alberta Grand Finals
- A Battle Between National and Provincial Champions
The battle between Alberta’s best showcased a dominating victory for the provincial champion, LCI Samurai Gold. They dethroned the previous year's national champions, EMT Marauders, with a 4-1 win in the best-of-7 series, cementing themselves as the best U18 Scholastic Rocket League team in Canada and giving Alberta back-to-back national championships. Although it was a tough defeat for EMT Marauders, they delivered an amazing performance as runners-up, having gone through the entire national tournament without dropping a single game until Grand Finals.
